Another Secular Poem, Aahe Dayamaya ... by Ramakrushna Nanda

In continuation with the previous blog... as my father put it: "Another gem of a prayer of the secular genre which is widely sung, and known for its simplicity of thought and expression which pour out of the hearts of the innocent children and adults alike."

Aahe Dayamaya Biswa Bihari
Ghena Dayabahi Mora Guhari
Jala, Sthala, Bana, Giri Akasha
Tuma Lila Sabuthare Prakasha
Tume Subha Budhipara Sikhaa
Tume Bhala Bata Para Dekhaa
Mora Kamaku Karaa Sarasa
Mora Mukhe Dia Chira Harasa
Mote Khala, Alasua Nikate
Nia Nahin Sukha Aba Sankate
Dukhi Arakhita Seba Karane
Bala Dia Mora Kara Charane
Tuma Charanere Mora Bhakati
Dia Bipade Sahasa Shakati
Sata Kahibaku Kian Daribi
Sata Kahi Pache Male Maribi
Mote Atiki Sikhaa Sain Hai
Mora Dhana Jana Loda Nahin Hai

  3. Thanks Srijit for a worthwhile post. Also thanks for posting Aahe Dayamaya Bishwa Bihari. That is the prayer we used to sing every day in school. Frankly, at that time we regarded it as a punishment to stand in queue in the sun and sing it aloud, but later (in the past decade) I've rmembered the prayer more often than ever.

  5. Thank you very much for posting such wonderful oriya poems which I used to sing some 55 years ago in my school. These are much better secular prayer than what our kids learn today. Can you please post the full poem" Kahinki mana arey bandhichhu anta rey, Chhutile ghata tote bolibe bhuta re...chha khanda panjatra hada heba tora saha rey..." Unfortunately such master pieces are not available in the net where we see only oriya film lyrics.
